How to use DXping
Set up your station, find the DX you need, understand what DXai is telling you, and have alerts reach you wherever you are.
Getting started
Your account callsign becomes your primary operating call.
On Profile, name the station and enter a 4-, 6- or 8-character Maidenhead grid. You can also click the map to select it.
Build wanted lists for callsigns, DXCC entities, US states, Canadian provinces and POTA parks.
Choose email, Telegram, Discord, browser push or the Android app under Alerts.
Import ADIF, QRZ or LoTW data, or send contacts live from N1MM+.
Profile, stations and account tools
Multiple station locations
Add named home, portable or remote stations on Profile. Select the active station from the navigation bar. Bearings, maps, satellite passes and DXai use that active grid.
Choose one default location and decide which locations participate in station-aware alerts.
Additional operating callsigns
Claim club, contest or portable calls you operate. Contacts logged under those calls are attributed to your account, and each call can be assigned to the appropriate station location.
QRZ and station details
Store your personal QRZ API key for QRZ logbook imports and location lookups. DXping masks the saved key on screen.
Referral credit
Your personal referral link and credited referrals appear on Profile. Friends may use the link or enter your callsign when registering.
On-air status badge
Profile provides several embeddable badge themes for QRZ biographies, club pages and personal sites. Copy the supplied <img> snippet; its private token prevents someone from changing the callsign in your badge URL.
Connected phones
See Android devices registered for native push, send each one a test alert, or remove a device that should no longer receive notifications.
Dashboard and live spots
- Dashboard: combines recent spots with your wanted-call status and DXai verdicts. Band and mode filters apply to the feed and wanted cards; use Keep filters to restore them on future visits.
- Status colors: wanted calls are emphasized, logged calls show as worked, and newly arrived spots briefly highlight during live refresh.
- All Spots: a database-paginated live list with source, time, frequency, mode, DXCC and bearing. Search a prefix normally or use wildcards such as
K2*,*ABCorK*2A. - UTC/local time: All Spots can display either without changing the stored spot time.
- Mode display: green text is the mode supplied with the spot; red is inferred from frequency; gray means it could not be identified.
- Spot history: select a callsign to review its recent frequencies, modes and spotters.
- DXpeditions: browse current and upcoming operations and add calls directly to Wanted Calls.
- DX by Country: public entity pages at DXping.com/dx summarize current activity and useful operating times.
Wanted lists
Wanted callsigns
- Add one call or several comma-separated calls.
- Import an event or DXpedition callsign group.
- Choose bands, Phone/CW/Digital and either all matching spots or DXai workable-only for each call.
- Cards show Wanted, Spotted or Logged status and the latest DXai verdict.
- Select multiple calls and remove them in one operation.
Wanted DXCC
- Add or remove entities manually regardless of your uploaded log.
- Narrow each target to bands and mode groups such as 10m Phone or 20m Digital.
- Choose all matching spots or require DXai to confirm workability.
- Mass-add all entities still needed, then bulk-remove any you do not want watched.
Wanted CQ zones
Select any of the 40 CQ zones, then give each one its own band, mode and workability rule. Enable Wanted CQ Zones on the Alerts page.
US states & Canada
Watch needed US states and Canadian provinces, with per-region band, mode and workability rules. Location data is used when available so portable and vanity calls are handled more accurately.
POTA parks
Search the park catalog by reference or name, build a park watchlist and receive an alert when one of those parks becomes active. The POTA map shows current activators.

Configure delivery on Alerts. You may pause everything without deleting your choices.

Filters and quiet hours
For each wanted call, entity, CQ zone or region, select bands, mode groups and whether to receive every matching spot or only DXai-confirmed workable spots. Global band/mode limits, UTC quiet hours and repeat intervals apply on top.
Browser troubleshooting
If push does not arrive, allow notifications in the browser's site settings and check operating-system Do Not Disturb settings. Browser permission and DXping's alert switch must both be enabled.
DXai propagation intelligence v1.12.0
DXai analyzes live on-air signal activity worldwide to answer whether a path is usable from your active station. It accounts for the selected band, mode, changing conditions and—when enough measurements exist—how your station performs.
GOOD strong margin OK workable WEAK marginal POOR unlikely — not enough information.
Band Conditions Now
Every amateur band receives a current mode-capability grade, qualitative activity level, best directions and a separate trend showing whether it is strengthening, steady or fading. Solar and geomagnetic context explains the conditions around the measured grades.
Live Reach Map
Shows the current area reaching your station as a strength field, with band selectors, light/dark themes and optional greyline display. Open the full-screen shack-monitor view or play the 48-hour reach timelapse.
Can I work them?
Enter a callsign. DXai locates the station, shows distance and bearing, and grades the path on every band. A personalized note appears when your measured station adjustment is applied.
Best Band
Choose a continent or country and an operating mode. DXai ranks the bands for that path now, and you may subscribe to an alert for that target opening.
Target Openings
The center is the present time: measured recent history appears to the left and the projected continuation appears to the right, making likely upcoming openings easy to spot.
Sked Finder
Enter a callsign or grid to find the strongest likely band and hour for a scheduled contact, with distance and bearing where available.
Contest Planner
Compares bands by hour and continent to help plan band changes during a contest.
Last 48 Hours & Typical Openings
The history heatmap shows what your station has just experienced. Typical Openings learns recurring band-by-hour patterns after enough history accumulates.
Antenna Lab
Create labeled timed runs for antennas, radios or configurations. Transmit during each run, then compare their reach as toggleable map layers. Auto/manual advance and repeated cycles are supported; the Lab never keys your radio.
My Station
DXai measures your per-band performance against typical nearby stations, keeps the history, adjusts your verdicts and can warn when a band suddenly falls below your own normal.
Your logbook
- My Log: search, filter and review the QSOs attached to your account and operating callsigns.
- ADIF import: upload a standard ADIF file from any logger. Large files are processed in batches and report imported, duplicate and failed records.
- QRZ import: use the API key saved on Profile to retrieve your QRZ logbook in chunks.
- LoTW import: import QSO and confirmation data and review records that could not be matched.
- N1MM+ live feed: configure N1MM+ broadcasting so completed contacts arrive while you operate.
- ADIF export: download your complete or filtered log at any time.
- Anomaly review: imports identify duplicates, unmatched confirmations, invalid records and field differences.
- QSL Cards: manage QSL information and card-related workflows from the Log menu.
Awards and progress
Award pages use your logbook plus approved manual credits. DXCC resolution is date-aware so historical calls and entities are credited according to the contact date.
DXCC Progress
View Mixed or narrow the award by band, Phone, CW, Digital, or a band/mode combination. Needed entities currently on the air are highlighted. Add or remove manual worked credits for paper-log contacts, inspect the calls crediting each entity, compare your logger with the resolved entity, view LoTW-confirmed totals and export the PDF report.
DXCC World Map
A world view of worked and needed current entities, using the same credits as DXCC Progress.
Additional trackers
Track WAZ, WPX, CQ DX Marathon, WANA, Canadaward, Worked All States, Worked All Canada and ARRL/RAC Sections.
Accuracy notes
Portable, exception and historical calls are resolved by date. US CQ zones are refined from available station-location information rather than the callsign numeral alone.
Amateur radio clubs
Create or join
Open the Club directory to create a club or add yourself to an existing one. Open clubs add you immediately; moderated clubs send your request to the club owner and administrators for approval.
Club profile
Each club has a callsign, location, description, optional website and optional Club Log club link. Owners can update these details and choose open or approval-based membership.
Members, invitations and roles
The creator becomes the owner. Owners and club administrators can invite existing DXping members by callsign, approve join requests, remove members and assign club administrators. Invitations must be accepted before membership begins. Members can belong to multiple clubs and leave at any time.
Combined activity
Club pages summarize member QSOs, distinct calls, recorded DXCC entities, recent activity and band totals from members' DXping logs. Individual recent contacts are visible only to active club members.
Maps, parks and events
- Spot Map: recent spotted stations with call, frequency, mode, source, distance and bearing. Toggle rain, clouds and recent lightning; layer choices are remembered.
- POTA Live Map: active park operators with band/mode filters and park details. The Park Catalog map browses known parks even when inactive.
- Award maps: WAS, Worked All Canada and ARRL Sections reflect your own log.
- Contest/event maps: Field Day, Florida QSO Party, 13 Colonies and supported special events provide purpose-built progress and activity views.
- Map location quality: exact station or park information is used where available; approximate placements are identified as such.
Satellite passes and alerts
- Pass map: calculate upcoming amateur-satellite passes over your active station grid.
- Watchlist: choose satellites you care about and see live heard/not-heard context where available.
- Alerts: configure pass reminders and the optional daily satellite digest. Multiple station locations are handled separately.
- Telegram: use
/passes,/sats,/watchsatand/unwatchsat.

Connect Telegram on Alerts, press Start in the bot, then type / for autocomplete.

Native mobile apps
Android beta
The native Android beta includes a Dashboard and paginated All Spots browser, callsign wildcards, band/mode filters, wanted markers, bearings, DXai spot verdicts and path checks, real-time push alerts, DXai conditions, Target Openings, native reach and wanted maps, station switching, wanted-list management, alert controls, offline data, logbook summary, ADIF upload and a DXai home-screen widget. When a newer beta is published, the app shows its version, release notes and an update button once per release.
iPhone and iPad
The iOS app is planned after Android beta testing. It will use the same DXping account and server-side station, wanted-list, alert and logbook data.
The mobile apps do not use your phone's GPS for DXai; they use the station grid you choose in DXping. See the Privacy Policy for device and notification details.
Appearance and accessibility
- Use the navbar theme control to switch between light and dark mode; the choice is saved.
- Use the font-size controls where shown for easier shack-monitor viewing.
- Tables adapt into readable mobile layouts on smaller screens.
- Live pages refresh in place where possible, preserving scroll position and selected controls.

- Submit Request sends a feature or bug request and lets you follow its status under My Requests.
- The support bubble provides live in-app conversation when the DXping team is available.
